WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

  1. After cleaning your teeth, you may feel rough surfaces, mainly on the insides of the teeth. They are the original tooth surfaces. That is quite normal. Don’t worry.
  2. After cleaning don’t expect your teeth to become pure white. Teeth cleaning improves oral hygiene. It does not alter the colour of teeth. The colour of the teeth can be changed by tooth whitening treatment.
  3. After cleaning you may feel gaps near the necks of the teeth. Your teeth are not weakened by cleaning. Instead they become healthier and stronger.
  4. Teeth cleaning can remove the dirt on your teeth only.
  5. For some patients the enamel on the biting surface worn out. This exposes yellowish brown dentin. Don’t mistake if for dirt. This should not be done.
  6. Teeth cleaning is sometimes advised to patients bleeding gums. They require other treatments like enamelling in addition to cleaning to solve their problems.

  8. Teeth cleaning is a safe sound procedure which everyone should undergo at least once in six months. If you are a smoker or a tobacco / betel nut chewer you may require it once in 2 months to keep your teeth clean.

DO’S AND DONT’S AFTER TOOTH REMOVAL

  1. Don’t probe the place of tooth removal with the tongue or finger. If you probe, the place will get septic and fresh bleeding will start. In addition to such problems, you might feel the bone. You will get scared thinking that a portion of the tooth is still inside. Hence don’t probe.
  2. If you don’t follow the advice, the Doctor will have to stitch the site of tooth removal. That means another injection, more pain, more medicines and more fees.
  3. Bite the cotton keep at the tooth removal site for one hour. Don’t change the cotton. During that time don’t split, don’t gargle. You can swallow the saliva.
  4. During the first day, eat only soft liquid food.
  5. Don’t eat hard or hot foodstuffs.
  6. Better eat after 2 hours.
  7. Don’t use the place of tooth removal for chewing.
  8. Wait for the numb sensation to disappear before you attempt chewing.
  9. Don’t smoke for one week.

Don’t drink liquor for one week.
